Overview

The New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) (Level 4) with strands in Palliative Care and Dementia Care is a 50-week programme (including two holiday weeks) worth 120 credits. It combines 37 weeks of theory online (Part A) with 11 weeks of practical training onsite in New Zealand (Part B), amounting to a total of 1,200 learning hours. Students engage in 25 hours of directed online learning each week, supported by an individual learning plan and guidance from experienced lecturers. 

In addition, a 400-hour clinical work placement (non-paid) is arranged by Kalandra Education Group to provide hands-on experience. Upon successful completion, graduates are awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4), equipping them with the skills and knowledge to make a real impact in social and community services.

Requirements

All international applicants must be at least 18 years of age on or before the first day of the semester in which the proposed programme of study is offered

IELTS academic overall band score of 5.5 with no individual band lower than 5.0 or  PTE (Academic) score of 42 with no band score lower than 36 or recognized equivalent (result must be no more than 2 years old and from one test) 

·       Healthcare sector qualifications / experience equivalent to Level 3

·       Clear criminal check

·       Physically able to do the job

·       Willingness to work with the older person

·       Access to the internet and a device

·       Interview with academic staff
